Goosebumps and Justice (advent reflections)
If you haven’t had a chance to – I’d highly recommend taking 40 min and listening to our advent reflections from the podcast last week.
Perhaps pull it up on your computer/Hi-Fi/iPods and listen as a family around the fire tonight or tomorrow evening.
Enjoy the thoughts, reflections and music and remember what this season of [...]

Shrinking the globe
Yesterday, Thursday evening, 7:30 GMT (to be exact), two churches came together in Motherwell, Scotland for a singing of Christmas carols.
While this may seem like a small thing, it quickly became a great shared experience with friends half the world away.

Songs of Advent
I love that songs tell us so much about our faith, our story, our journey. They also tell us a lot about our communities. The songs communities sing are very telling about how the community sees one another, life, God, faith, community, etc.
While I believe Advent should be such a major part of our [...]

Songs of Christmas
Over the years my favorite Christmas songs have changed from year to year.
I remember singing a number of songs growing up, including Come on Ring those Bells, Silent Night, Rudolph, etc. etc. But over the last few years, I think I’ve settled in on my all time favorite.
O Holy Night.

A Holy night
This may be one of my all time favorite musical versions of O Holy Night (except for the fact that you don’t hear the amazing lyrics when listening to it).

The Santa clause
There’s an interesting discussion going on at emergent village about whether Christian parents should teach their children about Santa Claus or not.
As someone who believed in Santa growing up, I’ve always looked upon the idea and nostalgia of Santa with great fun memories. My granddad has always played up the hopes and dreams of Santa’s [...]

More Virgin Mary, less Virgin Islands
I’ll file this under the “Guilty as Charged” file.
The Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit priest, says he objects to Christmas cards featuring family photos.
Look, I love family photos during the holidays. Plus, I actually read those annual holiday letters, all of which start with “What a busy year it’s been!” Seeing photos of my friends [...]
