Loved reading your update! We are praying for you.

I wanted to mention that the way you handled the crying was just right! We have found that often our kids have "big emotions" and they just don't know what to do with them. When you hold them while they cry (even if they kind of fight against you) it makes them feel safe and secure and know that it's okay to feel those feelings and to get them out. During those crying times we will often talk to them about how much we love them, about how Jesus loves them, and about how they are safe and secure with us. Sometimes I sing praise songs or will turn on praise music in the background. What you had happen with him being cuddly and happy afterwards is exactly what we've seen too. We can see a total difference in our kids after they've been able to process those emotions. There is a light in their eyes, they cuddle a little closer and they're more open with us. It's a neat thing to see.
  • Thanks! I'm starting to see that with Nick a little bit more. We've tried a couple varied approaches to see what works best. It's a learning experience for sure.
We appreciate your support and prayers!
