Life in 140-characters at a time

Addition by Adoption - The new book from Kevin Hendricks

Yesterday, I briefly told you about Kevin Hendrick’s latest book, .

I want to be sure I give it it’s just due.

I knew starting 2010 that Kevin was
a blogger to keep an eye on… but not only is he continuing his great blogging this year — he’s also released TWO books with a third in the works (his first was The Least of These).

Kevin and I chatted last week for an upcoming episode of the podcast to catch up on what’s been going on in his life since our first chat in the summer of 2008.

As we talked about his life and the new book, it continues to be obvious that Kevin has a huge heart for those around him — especially those living on the margins.

He’s all about caring for others.

And his new book is a prime example of this.

The book walks us through the last year and a half of Kevin’s life…

from the “mundane”…

Watching Lexi and another 2-year-old turn the handicap ramp at Barnes & Noble into a playground.

to the humorous aspects of being a stay-at-home dad…

Me: “Nobody wants your bare butt on the couch!” Lexi: “Bear? I’m not a bear!”

to the adoption of his son Milo…

Big, big thank you to everyone for your comments, thoughts and prayers as we travel to Ethiopia to pick up Milo. We appreciate it so much.

to the causes he has a deep passion for…

On Thursday I’m going to sleep outside to help the homeless. Today it’s snowing. Doh.

In addition to the chronology of Kevin’s last year-and-a-half, the book is an amazing testimony to the power of a Tweet and to the power of ambient intimacy.

Sure, you probably don’t care what Kevin’s daughter Lexi had for breakfast, but when you see Kevin’s tweets put in a chronological book form, you get a true picture of his heart and the passions of his family.

That’s what Twitter is all about for me.

I truly encourage you to purchase a copy of the book — not only because Kevin’s become a great friend, or it shows ambient intimacy, but because it also helps support another cause Kevin is passionate about — charity:water.

And if you pre-order the book (now through April 20th) you’ll save yourself a couple bucks, more money will go to charity:water and you’ll get your copied autographed by 4-year-old Lexi Hendricks to boot.

Otherwise, the book will be available on Amazon on May 11th.

Check it out and order a copy for you and your friends. You’ll be glad you did.
